Monica's At The Park

Love a good coffee shop?  I do.  One of my clients owns a lovely little spot on the corner of Park and Adams in University Heights.  I went there today.  I took my mom and Gabi and we had some lunch and coffee.  I had a Chicken Pesto Panini.  My mom had the Turkey Brie Panini and we shared a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup.  Everything was fabulous!  I was impressed.  We each had the Don Tu Latte, which is Monica's version of a Vietnamese coffee.  She uses condensed milk, but also cuts it with regular, so it's not as thick.  It is added to espresso, and VOILA... You have a fabulous drink!
The ambiance is awesome.  There is wi-fi and a beautiful seating area indoors and outside in the back.  Please go visit her the next time you need a relaxing coffee date!

Get NAKED!

The Naked Palette by Urban Decay is one of the most sought after eyeshadow palettes in the cosmetic world right now.  I receive phone call after phone call regarding this palette!  It truly is amazing!  You get so much for the price and the colors are exquisite!  This palette's versatility is unmatched... I have yet to create all the looks it has to offer.  I just wanted to blog about it, because I have a few pics of some of my looks I have been able to create with my Naked, plus one more look I did especially for my new sister in law on her wedding day! (Love you Abbie DWYER)  The palette is in a long rectangular velvet chocolate brown case.  Gold writing across the front, "NAKED".  It comes with 12 shades of eyeshadow, ranging from light base and brow highlights, to tans, golds, dark brown, rich mahogany brown (Hustle is my favorite color), to silvery gunmetal, and charcoal colors.  It has a double ended 24/7 pencil with black (Zero) on one side and brown (Whiskey) on the other. PLUS, it comes with a mini UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion).  All for 44 bux!  Great deal!  NOW... I believe the next shipment of palettes are going to be a bit different.  I don't know why the change, but I heard that it's coming out with an eyeshadow brush now, instead of the eyeliner.  I believe the new price will be 48 bux without tax.  I will let you know what I think of that when I see it!  Here are the pics I have so far...  A tutorial will come soon... My You Tube has been neglected lately.  I will jump back on it soon!
AND the LOVELY ABBIE! (Love you sista'!)
Hope you enjoy your Naked Palette as much as I do!

Spring Lineup for 2011!

Okay kittens... We have awesome new items in store for everyone who is ANYONE!  First off, I would like to announce that Urban Decay is celebrating it's 15 year anniversary!  At the beginning of February, we are featuring a brand new, full size eyeliner set!  There are 15 liners in this set; 5 of them being new colors!  The set is 92 bux!  That's a 255 dollar value!  You are basically buying 6 liners and getting 9 FREE!!!!  If you haven't already used our 24/7 Glide On liners, then HANDLE THAT!  They are cream based waterproof pencils that DO NOT tug at your lid and they set within 45 seconds to a minute.  You definitely need makeup remover to get it off.  I am stoked on this set.  I would wear EVERY COLOR!

We also have shadow sticks hittin' stores next month.  They are super creamy and dry to a waterproof finish!  Awesome to use as a base, thicker liner, or just alone!  Peep the look we created at work today!
Next up!!!  We have cream blushes, an eyelash growth serum (45 bux), which I tried for the first time tonight...
DAY 1:

Results are supposed to be visible in just 2 weeks.  I will be the judge of that!  LOL  We also came out with a CURLING MASCARA, a mascara for false lashes, and 2 new nude lipliners!  I am stoked on the Spring selection!  I will keep you posted!  Come see me at my counter to get your hands on your new gear!  Macy's Fashion Valley!  (San Diego, CA)

New Year... New Swag!

I am in the process of redoing my apartment... I have some chairs that were just given to me when I bounced outta the rents place 7 years ago.  They USED to be white... Needless to say, I need to get some new gear and get rid of old.  I am a huge fan of peacock feathers.  I love the vibrancy and colors involved!  So, I am focusing on that as my color palette and incorporating a "Vintage Glamour" sort of feel.

I bought this couch today!  This is not my place.  It is the picture of it I found online.  I got this piece for 155.00!  It looks black, but is called Merlot.  It is a deep eggplant color!  GORGEOUS!  It also folds down to make a place to lay.  I'm thinking teal pillows with it.
These other pictures are just for inspiration, the colors will be different and my personal "flavor" will be added.

I will post actual pictures of my place when it is complete!   LO LO

ALEXANDER MC QUEEN! ... My next pair of SHADES!

I have been wanting some bomb diggity aviators for awhile and haven't been able to find JUST THE RIGHT PAIR... UNTIL NOW!!!  I was at Nordies the other day and I found some Alexander McQueen's that are absolutely perf!  They are bronze, with amber lenses.  They have a skull head on either side with amber stones inlaid for the eyes.  Let me know what you think, for they will be my next pair of designer lenses... :)  They run about 360 bux.  My D&G's were 275 bux and have been worth every penny...  So I am looking forward to the time I can make this next major investment.

Humphrey's By The Bay on Sunday Nights!

I am a huge jazz fan.  I absolutely love it.  I was blessed with a musical family and we are all very eclectic with our genres.  A few years back, a friend of mine introduced me to Sunday nights at Humphrey's.  I then introduced my baby daddy to them, and he and I have gone a few times over the years to listen to some awesome jazz.  Last year, he burned a cd for me of this Saxophonist, Jackiem Joyner.
"I know you will love this," he said.  He was right.  I immediately took to Jackiem's music and have been a fan ever since.  2 days ago, Jonathan (baby daddy) asked me to go to Humphrey's on Sunday.  Of course, I said yes!  What I didn't know was that Jackiem Joyner was going to be performing that night.  "Duh, that's why I wanted to go..." Jono said.  LOL... I got so excited and had a great time!  He played 3 sets. His band was amazing.  One musician in particular stood out to me.  His name is Kayta Matsuno, the guitarist.  This guy had major skills!  I talked to him between sets, told him who my uncle was, and he immediately asked me for my email address.  LOL... BTW, he used to have two Taylors, until one was stolen. :(  He said, "Taylors are the best!"  I quite agree.  I took some video, but I am having trouble uploading it...
Peep his website jackiemjoyner.com

Some of my faves are Take Me There off of his album Lil' Man Soul, released in 2009. Also, he did a cover of Lost Without You by Robin Thicke, on that album.

During his set he played a cover of Say Yes by Floetry.  This is one of my all time favorite songs, and I was so happy to hear his rendition... Hopefully he has it up on his site.  It was awesome.

2011... Resolutions?

Ok.. It's a new year.  I have a few resolutions I made, and I think they are pretty good.
1) No soda.  I have never been a huge soda drinker.  I never buy it from the grocery store and I don't buy it when I gas my car.  But, working at the mall makes it easy to get on a lunch break and that's what I normally do.  Diet Coke is my soda of choice, but now, I am trying to just stick to my coffee, water, and iced tea.  I want to lose some weight I have gained in the past year, and I think eliminating soda will do me some good.

2) I want to OWN something.  Meaning... a place.  I want to set up a major budget and stick to it, so that by the end of 2011 I am in a new place of my own.  People say CREDIT is everything... and I GOT next to PERFECT credit.  I think I could make it work. ;)

P.S.  During the holiday season I have come across a few new places to eat and some hidden spots to find fabulous things!  I will blog about them soon!

XOXO,

Lo Lo
