Holiday Looks???

Many of you ladies are probably attending Christmas parties, along with family/friend gatherings and you are wondering... "How should I do my makeup???"  I am here to help.  Here are a few options to make it simple.

1) Add a little sparkle to a "Classic".  Hooking up your traditional "smokey eye" with a wash of BLING is a great way to add some holiday glam to your peepers.
Please forgive me, these were taken after a 10 hour day... LOL  It's not AS fresh as I would like for the pics, but the point is made nonetheless.
Products used: Urban Decay Primer Potion all over eye bed.  Next I took Barracuda 24/7 glide on Shadow stick from UD and filled in lid and proceeded to blend up and out into the crease.  I then followed it with Creep from my UD Naked Palette in my crease.  I applied Virgin from my UD Naked Palette to my brow bone.  I took Zero by UD and lined my lower lash and waterline.  Topped the lashes with mascara and voila!  I recommend a glowing cheekbone and cheek.  Baked by Urban Decay is my all time favorite bronzer.  Finish the look by filling in your brows and adding a nude lip.  A peachy nude is the type I usually go for.

Next...

2) Try a bright clean eye with a deep berry lip!

Products Used: Urban Decay Primer Potion in SIN (my fave) all over eye bed.  Next I did a bronze shadow lightly in the crease.  I believe I used my 15 Year Anniversary palette from UD.  On the brow bone I kept it light, using Vanilla from that same palette.  I then applied Midnight Cowboy eyeliner from my 15 Year Anniversary liner set along my upper and lower lash lines and water line.  Stuck on some false lashes and I had a glowing eye, which would make any woman green with envy. ;)  Cheeks and cheekbones are blessed with Baked bronzer by UD AGAIN!!!  I then used Burgundy liner from MAC on my lips and Rebel lipstick.

Last, but not least...

3) You could coordinate your makeup with the colors of your outfit.
This was me on Valentine's Day 2011

Products Used: UDPP all over eye bed.  I used my BH Cosmetics 220 palette on my eyes. A few of the magenta and pink colors to lightly give a wash on the eye.  I did this to still be able to "go there" on the lip.  I am wearing Up The Amp by Mac on my lips. :)  Of course this look will only work for outfits that are a color that can be worn on the lips and eyes such as: plums, cranberrys, berrys, golds.  If you desire a red lip, tweek the rules a little and do a more classic "pinup style" eye.  A clean eyebed and a black winged out eyeliner would be best.

Hope this helps!  Happy Holidays and pretty faces!

The Feeling....

My most vivid memory of growing up was how I felt in my home.  Christmas time has always been and always will be my favorite time of year.  My mom has a way of making things beautiful.  From the room I am sitting in to the kitchen table set for dinner; it was always beautiful.  Christmas time was always where she went the extra mile to make certain it was extra special for me.  One specific day during the holidays, I remember walking down the stairs and stopping at the landing.  A fire was burning, the essence of cinnamon and spice filled the air and a Christmas movie was playing.  I stood in that spot and just took it all in... It was "the feeling".  I said this out loud, too.  "I have the feeling!"  With all that being said, everyone in my life knows about "the feeling":christmas music, holiday drinks, shopping malls at Christmas, Christmas trees, lights, scented candles smelling of pumpkin, cinnamon and pine... I could go on and on.
I have a daughter who is about to be 4 years old on Friday, December 2nd.  She loves Christmas just like I do, and just like her grandma.  I told myself that I will make sure to make my home a place as magical for my daughter as my mom made it for me.  ESPECIALLY during the holidays.  Here are some pictures of my place this year for Christmas.  Enjoy!

Inspiration for Mommies???

I started thinking this morning about my little girl and future birthday parties and what themes we would go with.  So, I decided to google images of theme parties, and came across this adorable blog by Design Dazzle.  I am in love with this theme.  If Gabi doesn't still have it in her mind that she wants to be Spiderman at her 4th birthday, I may have to go with the Ballerina theme.  Or I may save it for her 5th birthday, and make it really special for that birthday milestone. ;)  Enjoy these pictures, mommies!!!

This last picture is my fave!  I am dying over this outside tea party tent!

NAILS....

Everyone who knows me know, I am in love with nail polish.  I get a rush when I am buying my new OPI's... That's just me.  Some people like WEED... I love POLISH.  LOL... I just recently saw a picture of a manicure Katy Perry had and I was like, "Ummmm... WANT IT."  Now, let me just say this manicure is NOT for everyone.  It is for people with a lot of time and MONEY.
Katy had 76 crystals just on her THUMB ALONE.  I don't have that time... and needless to say... the money to get SWAROVSKY ish on my NAILS.  I am a makeup artist and for as much as I use my hands, uh hello???? It's not worth losing one of those dang crystals.  So I came up with a modified version of this mani, and I'm diggin' it...

I had my girl Desiree, who also hooks up the Rockstar toes put the OPI Shellac silver polish on first.  Then I had purchased the nail gems from Boulevard Nail Supplies and had her use nail glue to adhere them to each of my ring fingers.  She then covered them with a top coat.  They are not as sparkly as Katy's blinged out phalanges, but I'm digging them just as much.
I like the contrast between the other nails and the "gemstone mama".... Love, love, love my nails and I love how Desiree can make my vision reality!

Lo Lo

P.S.  The Jimmy Choos I really want (fyi) LOL... Totally off topic, but had to throw it in the mix.
Ahhhh... $1695.00

MAC QUITE CUTE COLLECTION...

I was in Mac yesterday, just browsin', when I happened upon the collection that JUST launched.  I LOVE IT... I am in love with the pastels right now, and these are fierce!  Here is the entire collection:

I fell in love with the nail polishes in Little Girl Type (pastel lavender) and Mischievous Mint (pastel blue/green):
P.S.  Don't mind the ding on the finger... LOL... Did that with my camera.
I also bought 3 lip products: Candy Yum Yum (makes Girl About Town NOT look hot pink) Playing Koi (which reminds me of Myth, but BETTER) and Bubble Tea Plushglass, which is the perfect nude gloss.

The swatches don't do it justice.  Anyway, I will post pics soon.  AND YOU WILL DIE! ;)  The best part is that I got my discount on each of these limited edition products.  I'm in heaven.

It's Like BUTTER, Baby!

To start this post, I must say to everyone in the San Diego area, "Get yo butt to my cousin's boutique, DOLCETTI, downtown and spend some money."
Okay, now that I got that out of the way... I was in there today with Gabz and we were visiting and hanging out when I saw a new line of nail polish, called Butter.  Now, everyone who knows me, knows I am an OPI girl to the core.  But, there are a few colors from this collection that caught my eye; they were different from any OPI colors I currently own.  The packaging is super cute and fresh.  It reminded me of the font Philosophy uses for their packaging.  I tried one color on and I am definitely a fan.  The color scheme reminds me of Hard Candy's pastel polishes from back in the day.  I love it!  There are some other cool facts about this product as well.  One being that it's organic.  I'm excited to see how this polish wears.  These run about 14.00, which is a little more pricey than most, but still 9 dollars less than Chanel and 7 dollars less than Dior.  A traditional bottle of OPI is 8.50 and that's if you aren't buying a special edition which can run 12 to 13 bux.  So, it's definitely in a reasonable market... People WILL pay.  So the next time you head over to Dolcetti and A Style Concierge, be sure to grab a polish to coordinate with that FABULOUS handbag you bought for Spring.

XOXO,

Lo Lo
I'm wearing the color on the far left.
The rest of the line, including: Base and Topcoats, Cuticle oil and remover and Nail growth polish
 I HEART the display unit!
I am a fan of this pastel/slate blue... Very different than I normally wear.

Wonder Woman Collection by MAC

Ok... So I checked out the collection.  Needless to say I wasn't impressed.  I was kinda disappointed.  The packaging was to be expected; it looks just like the cartoon.  But, the product is not exciting.  I think I pretty much have all the colors they are offering, just from other collections.  The one thing I did want, was the mineralized powder.  It's 2 highlighters and 1 bronzer in a compact.  They have it in light and dark versions.  I think the MAC at Fashion sold out of the light powder already, so I will check with 5th Ave to see what they got.  If they are out, then I will just take that L.  If I wanted it bad enough I would've copped it already, 4 sure.

Monica's At The Park

Love a good coffee shop?  I do.  One of my clients owns a lovely little spot on the corner of Park and Adams in University Heights.  I went there today.  I took my mom and Gabi and we had some lunch and coffee.  I had a Chicken Pesto Panini.  My mom had the Turkey Brie Panini and we shared a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup.  Everything was fabulous!  I was impressed.  We each had the Don Tu Latte, which is Monica's version of a Vietnamese coffee.  She uses condensed milk, but also cuts it with regular, so it's not as thick.  It is added to espresso, and VOILA... You have a fabulous drink!
The ambiance is awesome.  There is wi-fi and a beautiful seating area indoors and outside in the back.  Please go visit her the next time you need a relaxing coffee date!

Get NAKED!

The Naked Palette by Urban Decay is one of the most sought after eyeshadow palettes in the cosmetic world right now.  I receive phone call after phone call regarding this palette!  It truly is amazing!  You get so much for the price and the colors are exquisite!  This palette's versatility is unmatched... I have yet to create all the looks it has to offer.  I just wanted to blog about it, because I have a few pics of some of my looks I have been able to create with my Naked, plus one more look I did especially for my new sister in law on her wedding day! (Love you Abbie DWYER)  The palette is in a long rectangular velvet chocolate brown case.  Gold writing across the front, "NAKED".  It comes with 12 shades of eyeshadow, ranging from light base and brow highlights, to tans, golds, dark brown, rich mahogany brown (Hustle is my favorite color), to silvery gunmetal, and charcoal colors.  It has a double ended 24/7 pencil with black (Zero) on one side and brown (Whiskey) on the other. PLUS, it comes with a mini UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion).  All for 44 bux!  Great deal!  NOW... I believe the next shipment of palettes are going to be a bit different.  I don't know why the change, but I heard that it's coming out with an eyeshadow brush now, instead of the eyeliner.  I believe the new price will be 48 bux without tax.  I will let you know what I think of that when I see it!  Here are the pics I have so far...  A tutorial will come soon... My You Tube has been neglected lately.  I will jump back on it soon!
AND the LOVELY ABBIE! (Love you sista'!)
Hope you enjoy your Naked Palette as much as I do!

Next up!!!  We have cream blushes, an eyelash growth serum (45 bux), which I tried for the first time tonight...
DAY 1:

Results are supposed to be visible in just 2 weeks.  I will be the judge of that!  LOL  We also came out with a CURLING MASCARA, a mascara for false lashes, and 2 new nude lipliners!  I am stoked on the Spring selection!  I will keep you posted!  Come see me at my counter to get your hands on your new gear!  Macy's Fashion Valley!  (San Diego, CA)
